The Groom's 12 month Planner

Just because she said yes, and she will do about two thirds or more of the work planning for the wedding, there are still responsibilities you as the groom need to handle. These are broken down into time frames, so as not to add to the confusion.

 9 - 12 Months Before the Wedding:
 *Determine the type of wedding (formal or informal, size, and setting) and select a date and
   time.
   It might also be a good idea to set up a backup date.
*Determine your budget and division of expenses and agree on a preliminary budget.
  Decide who will pay for what and how expenses will be shared.
 *If you haven't already done so, buy the engagement ring. See the  Rings  to help in your choice.
 *Choose best man and who will be in your wedding party.
 *Visit the clergy and review synagogue/church requirements.

 6 - 9 months before the wedding:
 *Compile names and addresses and start your wedding guest list.
 * Start a health and fitness plan if you're not already in one!

4-6 months before the wedding:
* Plan honeymoon; visit travel agencies, make reservations.
* Shop for bridal party tuxedos. Do this together so that they coordinate with bridesmaid's dresses.

3 months before the wedding:
* Choose gifts for best man, groomsmen, parents. Look over these  Gift  ideas to help in your
   selection.
* Shop together and buy your wedding rings.
* Prepare accommodations and reserve rooms for out-of-town attendants and guests

2 months before the wedding:
* Confirm honeymoon reservations and finalize all honeymoon plans.
* Discuss with your best man his responsibilities.
* Figure out seating chart with your fiancée. Your fiancée doesn't know Aunt Dee hates Uncle
   Bob unless you tell her.

1 month before the wedding:
* Finalize details of every aspect of your wedding.
* Get marriage license.
* Pick up wedding rings and make sure that the engravings are correct.
  Make sure they fit! DO THIS TOGETHER!
* If moving, give change of address card to post office, contact utilities companies, etc.

2 weeks before the wedding:
* Contact guests who have not responded.
* Make sure tuxedo details are complete.
* If moving, give change of address card to post office, contact utilities companies, etc.
* Have your hair cut. Don't wait 'til the day before. Allow your hair to grow in. You don't want
   that new haircut look in your wedding photos.

1 week before the wedding:
* If you can, take the week, or part of the week off from work!
* Pick up the tuxedos.
* Purchase travelers checks, confirm honeymoon reservations.
* Pack for honeymoon.
* Make sure you have all wedding attire, rings & marriage license...
  Make sure your marriage license is in order.
  Make sure all wedding attire fits properly.
* Have your wedding ceremony rehearsal and dinner.
* Give the best man the amounts your vendors are to be paid on the day of the
  wedding.
* Confirm out-of-town guests have transportation and sleeping accommodations.

WEDDING DAY
* Relax, enjoy yourself, and remain calm!
* Take marriage license and rings to ceremony location.
* Begin dressing two hours before ceremony is to begin.
* If photographs are to be taken before the ceremony, allow plenty of time for that!
* Seat guests as they arrive.
  The groom's parents should be seated about 5 minutes before start time.
  Mother of the bride is normally seated last.

Congratulations and Good Luck!
